There are certainly many methods or ways to have your paper checked. Having a capable adult check your essay is always helpful for correcting grammatical mistakes and spelling errors, and they will surely give you an honest opinion if your paper makes sense. Many online essay writing services also offer editing services which will provide a professional editor or proofreader to check your paper over as well, but these services always charge a fee. Another means to have your essay checked is by posting it on an online student forum or a website that enables other students to check your work for free.
Unfortunately, the latter of these options comes with risks you might not be willing to take, especially if your essay is an important one, such as an admissions essay. One of the risks involved with having your paper checked by posting it online can result in it being copied or stolen. There has been no evidence of security in having your paper checked in this manner and there is always a possibility you will never receive your paper back, checked or otherwise. Additionally, just because another student makes a claim that they are capable of editing your paper doesn't necessarily make it so. Often there is no way to find out any information on the person who is checking your paper so you will have no idea if they are credible or reliable. If you do choose to have your paper checked by another student it would probably be a good idea not to give them any of your personal information as well especially in light of the security issues.
Bottom line is, if you choose this option for having your paper checked... be cautious, do a bit of investigating first, and trust your instincts. The last thing you want to do is get 'ripped off' and have to write your essay all over again!
