For months tuition fees have become the most popular topic for discussion and there is a risk that it is taking place at the expense of many other spheres of higher education. To oppose this process, everyone who has direct relation to higher education needs to remind of the importance of higher education and its integral aspects.
UK
undergraduates make up only a small part of the academic community and it should be widen in scope. A new policy should be introduced, the one that would secure the position of postgraduates, allow the acceptance of a larger number of international students and support researches of all academic and
essay service spheres .
There must be a vision towards which the government will step. It was considered that the changes to a student visa system introduced not so far ago would have negative consequences. However, it was a signal for many overseas students that UK universities are "open for business". The government is still planning to reduce the number of overseas students up to 25%. George Osborne's recent budget has proved that it is vital to invest in innovation for there is still no system of support for postgraduates who are the researchers of tomorrow.
The white-paper that will set out the government’s full plans for higher education is expected to be published not earlier than in May. The reason for such a delay is taking an opportunity to analyze the outputs of higher education system and create a better view of activities by universities. The most difficult issue for the white paper will be getting the balance right on regulation. In attempt to establish a market, the government almost completely replaced the teaching grant with tuition fees which made students in a driving seat. The next challenge is to find out how proposed policies could maintain a sustainable sector that could transform the UK's economy at the same time. Anyway the white paper must be a confident statement on the importance of UK higher education in the times of great international change and global competition.
